They are America's fastest-growing private companies that lead in strategy, service and innovation, the monthly publication said. This year's list includes businesses that exercise the body and the mind, push the boundaries of virtual reality and 3-D printing and delight fans with rock concerts and (in the case of the No. 1 company, LootCrate) superheroes, according to Inc. It also includes the vending industry's shining micromarket star.

With a three-year growth rate of 136% and revenue of $26 million, Avanti Markets Inc. of Tukwila, WA, ranked No. 2,606 on the 2016 Inc. 5000 list.

Founded in 2009, Avanti is the largest provider of self-checkout micromarkets in the U.S. The company said the Inc. recognition follows a successful year of growth, driven by its investment in new technology, including VMS integration for its markets. Likewise, Avanti reported, its investment has benefited independent vending operators by helping them grow their businesses.

"We're very honored to be part of the Inc. 5000 list," said Avanti Markets chief executive Jim Brinton, a past chairman of the National Automatic Merchandising Association. "I'm especially thankful for our entire team for their immense work and efforts as they strive to constantly work cohesively together and exceed expectations for all of our stakeholders, including our operators, host sites and market users."

Avanti president John Reilly added, "Our customers are top-of-mind, and their needs greatly influence our decisions and innovation, now and in the future."
