Aryzta Adds 10th Bread Production Line At Bakery In Ancaster, ON

ON A ROLL: Newly expanded Aryzta bakery in Ancaster, ON, has begun turning out a variety of rolls and buns with the addition of a 10th production line. The additional capacity at present is serving customers in Canada but provides the capacity to increase supply throughout North America.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Canda -- Aryzta North America has added a new frozen bread line extension at its bakery in Ancaster, ON, Canada. Aryzta's state-of-the-art 237,000 sq.ft. Ancaster bakery makes a variety of breakfast and sweet baked goods for foodservice and retail customers under the Oakrun Farm Bakery and Otis Spunkmeyer brands, and for private-label clients.

The new line expands Ancaster's offerings into frozen breads, and is capable of producing large loaves as well as small rolls and buns. The frozen dough is shipped to retail grocers and foodservice accounts, where it is freshly baked in-store. While the new line will initially supply customers in Canada, the capacity increase will enable Aryzta to expand supply and meet customer needs throughout North America. The line employs 48 people and boosts the bakery's current nine-line footprint up to 10 production lines.

Aryzta expects the new line to get up to full capacity quickly and to operate five days a week, 24 hours a day. The company continues to grow within the frozen bread category in foodservice, convenience and retail channels throughout North America.
