NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The owner of Cancun Cyber, an Internet café here, filed a motion on Sept. 20 requesting a circuit court judge in Pulaski County to issue a temporary restraining order against the local prosecuting attorney and police chief, enjoining them from raiding the business. The venue operates sweepstakes videogames.

The owner-operator also wants the court to declare the café's games legal, even though they award cash prizes to winners.

State attorney general spokesman Aaron Sadler said a response would be filed within 30 days. More immediately, the AG's office will seek a dismissal of the operator's motion at a hearing on Oct. 14.

According to press reports, another Internet café in the region was recently raided on suspicion of operating a gambling house. More than 100 computers were seized. | SEE STORY
