CHICAGO -- Slated to debut this summer is the first annual Arcade, Video and Game Room Expo. It's being organized by Rob Berk (Warren, OH), who founded Pinball Expo more than three decades ago. The new show is set for Aug. 25 through 27 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday) at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel & Conference Center in Rosemont, IL.

Berk, whose Pinball Expo has become an annual highlight for flipper aficionados from all over the world, is reportedly planning an exciting launch for AVGR Expo. World record-holders, film stars and icons of the videogame industry will be featured. At this writing, they include:

Billy Mitchell, considered by some to be the greatest arcade and videogame player of all time and world record-holder for Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and other classics.

Richie Knucklez, who holds the world record for Space Invaders. He also is an actor and producer whose films include "The King of Arcades" (2014).

Joel West, a Berzerk and Frenzy arcade world record-holder. West is the star of "Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade" (2007) and a marathon gamer who has played arcade games for more than 48 hours straight on a single quarter.

Walter Day, founder of Twin Galaxies Arcade (Ottumwa, IA), a leading videogame historian, author and scoring authority. Day starred in the documentary "King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters" (2007).

Eugene Jarvis, designer and creator of such iconic games as Defender, Stargate and Robotron: 2084, among many more. Jarvis founded Raw Thrills Inc., an arcade videogame design studio.

Doc Mack, owner of Galloping Ghost Arcade, billed as the largest gameroom in the world (it offers more than 500 games). AVGR Expo visitors will have the opportunity to visit this arcade in Brookfield, IL.

Attractions at the new exposition will comprise a vintage arcade video tournament, and more than 200 coin-operated games set on free play. A vendor area will enable showgoers to purchase arcade, video and other coin-operated machines and parts, as well as magazines, books and DVDs, among other memorabilia. There also will be seminars on videogame topics.

The show's organizers presently are looking for arcade and video machines to be a part of the event. Anyone with equipment of interest is invited to contact Jason Kopp by calling (234) 281-5919.
