GARDENA, CA — Andamiro USA Corp. reports that it is now shipping Basketball Pro, a fast-action sports game in an upright package.

Designed for both street locations and the gamerooms in family entertainment centers, Basketball Pro features a compact footprint to fit easily into bars and other traditional public locations. And its striking, colorful styling assists it in standing out on the largest gameroom floor. While Basketball Pro ships as a ticket redemption game, it is easily modified for non-ticket play in route operations.

Basketball Pro is a one- or two-player sports piece offering straightforward play. Its distinguishing feature is the eye-catching player interface: two controllers the size and shape of real basketballs. Players pound these big “external” balls to propel little balls around the interior play zones, striking the controller to make a shot. The velocity (and hence the height) of the little ball’s trajectory is governed by the force of the blow. The pneumatic interface allows players to control all their shots.

The game’s two player stations permit single or side-by-side competitive play. Two backboards, equipped with hoops and game clocks, move up and down as players attempt to propel the mini balls at them by skillful blows to the controllers.

Gameplay is simple and engaging. Players select single or “versus mode,” and the game starts when the music begins .When  versus mode is enabled, backboard movement is synchronized. Players quickly learn to adjust the force of the hits they give the external ball to follow the moving basket. Players score three points every time they make a basket and six points during the final 10 seconds of the game (called “double time”). The default play time is 40 seconds, and the end of the game is signaled by a whistle.

In arcades, players win tickets based on points. In bars and other street venues, players with the highest scores earn bragging rights – “try to beat that!” A majority of operators will agree that games offering competitive play are more exciting and typically generate greater earnings, Andamiro observed.

“Basketball Pro is both a great family game for arcades and two-player competitive piece for the bar and street market,” said Andamiro USA president Drew Maniscalco. “It has loads of entertainment value.”

The new Andamiro game measures 32” W. x 38” D. x 98” H. (79” H. without the marquee). The game’s player zones, separated by fine stainless-steel wire mesh, have plenty of room for some great shooting. The concave court surface directs the small “interior” balls into the shooting mechanism. Each court measures 14” W. x 20” D. and has a vertical drop of 3 feet. During gameplay, the moving backboards climb and descend through much of that vertical.

Andamiro’s designers created colorful basketball-themed graphics to wrap around the game’s classic coin-op cabinet. A spirited soundtrack, background cheers and an announcer calling the shots enhance the Basketball Pro experience: “Hey, let’s play some hoops!”; “Great shot!”; “Three pointer!”; “Six-point play!” “What a shot!" "Basket!” and more.

Andamiro is including at no charge a replacement set of basketball controllers with each Basketball Pro purchase. The ball is made of PVC and elastomer, a synthetic compound known for its flexibility and durability.

Basketball Pro is marketed by Andamiro USA Corp. and its authorized distributors. Andamiro USA is a unit of South Korea’s Andamiro Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of commercial amusement devices.

VERSATILE: New Andamiro Basketball Pro is designed to attract repeat play in arcade gamerooms and on street routes. The one- or two-player is played by striking the eye-catching basketball-sized controllers to shoot small interior balls at a moving basket. It ships as a ticket redemption piece, but is easily modified for installation in street locations.
