Andamiro Introduces Mobile Edition Of Pump It Up Arcade Classic

SEOUL, South Korea -- Andamiro has released a mobile edition of its renowned Pump It Up dance simulation game. Pump It Up Mobile Edition for Android devices is now available through the Google Play store; it’s rated for “everyone,” and is free. A version for Apple iOS is in preparation.

Andamiro’s Pump It Up arcade game is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and the company’s music division developed the mobile app as part of the celebration. The arcade game is outfitted with two side-by-side five-step electronic dance stages.

Pump It Up Mobile Edition -- PIU M for short -- puts the game’s dance stage in the player’s hand: “Let your fingers do the dancing,” Andamiro explained. It’s designed for intuitive gameplay that anyone can master; players simply touch the arrows that follow the beat of the music. A wide range of difficulty levels will appeal to players at all skill levels, from beginner to expert. And an app user can compete with other PIU M players around the globe, vying for the highest score on a song to win the title of World’s Best.

Songs never played on the arcade game have been released with PIU M. In addition to these mobile-exclusive titles, PIU M ships with 200 of the classic songs featured on the arcade game. Music for the mobile edition is free, and will be updated regularly. Players can earn or purchase points that can be exchanged to unlock certain songs.

“Pump It Up Mobile Edition will allow anyone at any time to experience the nostalgia of Pump Up It on their phones,” said Changhee Son, team leader of the M-Business unit that spearheads the development of Andamiro’s music products, including the new Google Play app. “It will also introduce Pump It Up to a whole new audience.”

Pump It Up was originally released in August 1999 in South Korea. The game immediately became a huge success in its home market, and quickly reached other parts of Asia, North and South America and Europe. Today, Pump It Up is an international pop-culture icon with a zealous and growing fan base. Highlighting the anniversary was the January 2019 release of the Pump It Up 20th Anniversary edition, PIU XX, for Andamiro’s deluxe 55” HD arcade cabinet. PIU XX is being hailed by Pump It Up fans everywhere as the best game ever in the arcade dance genre.
