AMOA Road Scholar meeting, coin-op WEST DUNDEE, IL -- The Amusement and Music Operators Association has announced that this year's Road Scholar traveling education program will be held from Oct. 21 through 23 at the Sheraton Phoenix Airport Hotel (Tempe, AZ).

The Road Scholar program is designed for leaders in the coin-op industry who want to invest in themselves and their businesses by participating in a quick educational event at an easily accessible venue. Participants in the 2016 event can fly in Friday night, Oct. 21, for intensive education all day Saturday. The event wraps up by noon on Sunday, Oct. 23.

This year's curriculum includes presentations on the Department of Labor's new overtime rules and guidelines, and what they mean to operators. Other topics are operational ratios -- processes and procedures; risk management to protect the operator's interests; banking at every level of business (what, exactly, banks look at); accounting as a means of understanding what is in a financial statement; and an overview of effectively operating small-footprint family entertainment centers.

The program is open to all industry members, but AMOA members receive special pricing. Online registration is available at AMOA's website.

Foundations Entertainment University plans to conduct its fall 2016 session from Oct. 18 through 20, also at the Sheraton Phoenix Airport Tempe hotel. A limited number of scholarships are available to AMOA operator members on a first-come, first-serve basis.
