DALLAS -- In a break with recent tradition, Amusement Expo International 2017 will be held in a city other than Las Vegas. The Sheraton Dallas downtown hotel is the venue for this year's exposition, which is scheduled for March 14 through 16.

The first Amusement Expo was staged in 2010, following the merger of the Amusement Showcase International, which had been held in the spring by the American Amusement Machine Association, and the long-running International Expo of the Amusement and Music Operators Association, staged in the fall for decades. The new show is jointly owned by AMOA and AAMA, and cosponsored by the National Bulk Vendors Association.

Again in 2017, the event will lead off with Expo Education Day. AMOA and AAMA are organizing the curriculum for music and amusement operators, while NBVA is assembling the business program for bulk vending registrants. Both conference series will be held at the headquarters Sheraton Dallas hotel on Tuesday, March 14, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be followed immediately by the Industry Gala Reception.

A highlight of the business program will be the leadoff session presented by Tony Leone of the Leone Resource Group (Charlotte, NC). Leone will propose ways to "Sell More, More Often, For More Money, With Less Effort" by making use of the "sales funnel" model. Leone's presentation is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on March 14.

The trade show, again reinforced by the collocated NBVA exhibit and the Laser Tag Convention, will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, March 15 and 16. It will be preceded by an industry awards presentation and ribbon-cutting ceremony, beginning at 9:25 a.m.

The exhibit area will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days. Drawings to benefit AMOA's Wayne E. Hesch Memorial Scholarship fund will take place in the Hesch booth at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
