PHILADELPHIA, PA — AMI Entertainment Network is conducting a promotion to celebrate The English Beat’s first new album in 35 years, "Here We Go Love." The grand prize winner will receive a six-album “vinyl bundle” including a signed copy of "Here We Go Love," three more English Beat titles – "I Just Can’t Stop It, Wha’ppen?" and "Special Beat Service" – and two from General Public: All the Rage and Hand to Mouth. Five runners-up will get an autographed vinyl copy of Here We Go Love.

The English Beat exploded onto the music scene in 1979 as part of the “Two Tone Ska” movement, the second phase in the development of Jamaica’s Ska genre. The band revolved around inclusion and unity, and their music exemplified that philosophy. It combines soul, reggae, pop and punk into a fluid “pop ska” sound. The band’s first album, I Just Can’t Stop, was released in 1980 after it had spent a year turning out hit singles. The band followed that with "Wha’ppen?" in 1981 and "Special Beat Service" in 1982.

Following the band’s 1983 breakup, lead vocalists Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger formed the band General Public. General Public released "All the Rage" in 1984 and "Hand to Mouth" in 1986, before Wakeling and Roger went their separate ways to work on solo projects. General Public reformed in 1994 to release "Rub it Better," its final album.

Members of The English Beat also worked on solo projects during the long hiatus. Most group members remained close and often collaborated. In 2014, they announced a new studio album that became "Here We Go Love" and was released earlier this year.

AMI now is privileged to offer music fans a chance to score an essential vinyl LP microgroove collection. Enthusiasts can use the AMI Music app, available for iOS and Android devices, to enter the contest instantly. They also may enter through any AMI jukebox. The contest will run through Sept. 26.
