ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL -- The nuts and bolts of video lottery terminal operation will be explored at a series of VLT Expos conducted throughout Illinois by American Vending Sales. They're set for May 17 (Monday) in Mt. Vernon, for operators in the southern part of the state; May 18 (Tuesday) in Peoria, for the industry in central Illinois; and May 20 (Thursday) in AVS's hometown, Elk Grove Village.

Illinois legalized third-party operation of certain video gaming equipment last year, and the law is expected to take effect at the end of 2010 or start of 2011, when the regulatory mechanisms have been established. The AVS Expos are designed to provide complete information about the law, from equipment and seating through bases to signage. Each will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; lunch and snacks will be provided.

The program will begin with opening remarks and an overview of the experiences of other states that have legalized video lottery terminal operation. This will be followed by a review of suitable equipment manufactured by IGT to meet the requirements of the Illinois law and a survey of video line-up and video reel games.

After lunch, the program will resume with an explanation of "slot math," an overview of video poker and a discussion of the operator's role. It will wrap up with a presentation on financing, a question-and-answer period and closing remarks.

The Mt. Vernon Expo is set for the Holiday Inn on Potomac Blvd.; the Peoria event will be held at the Peoria City Centre on Hamilton Blvd.; and the northern Illinois confab will take place at AVS headquarters on Morse Ave.

Industry members wishing to attend one of the expositions should contact American Vending Sales at (847) 439-9400, ext. 274, by Monday, May 10.
