Accent Food Services Resumes Limited Operations, Ramps Up Harvey Relief Efforts

PFLUGERVILLE, TX -- Accent Food Services president and chief executive Josh Rosenberg said the vending company has restored "moderate operations" now that the catastrophic flooding in Texas from Hurricane Harvey has begun to recede.

"It will be weeks if not months before we return to full capacity," Rosenberg said. "Our commissary and operations team will begin serving customers as they come back on line. At the same time, we will continue to have humanitarian efforts for our associates in need, customers and community."

Rosenberg said AFS, based in Pflugerville, TX (about 150 miles northwest of Houston), which was spared the devastation of hard-hit Houston, and its industry partners have already collected more than $30,000 in food, clothing, toiletries and monetary donations for those impacted by the flooding through its local branches and the Stamina Foundation, a Philadephia-based nonprofit whose AOK Foundation (Acts of Kindness).

Rosenberg said the funds will first support AFS team members, industry peers and clients. AFS will donate any remaining funds to the American Red Cross. AFS is also collecting donations at each of its locations. And Market Café, Accent Food Services' commissary division, is in Houston helping to feed residents.

"We helped feed more than 1,000 people in shelter at the Reliant Center, and will deliver more than 10,000 snacks," Rosenberg reported on Aug. 29. "Additional trucks are in route to deliver more goods to the impacted areas and we will not stop our efforts until our communities are back on their feet."

Rosenberg said two Accent employees lost their homes during the natural disaster and that the company has coordinated temporary housing, essentials, and transportation for their families.

"We have been in contact with Accent employees living in the hardest hit areas. Our team members' and client impact in Houston has been much worse.," Rosenberg said. "All employees are accounted for and safe. However, we are still on guard, as the rain will continue throughout the course of the week."
