A&A Global Industries Makes Transition To 100% Solar Power

The U.S. solar industry is booming, thanks in no small part to small businesses that have been studying and investing in renewable energy and other "green" initiatives.

Among those enterprises investing in the future is bulk vending's A&A Global Industries, which is about to complete a 1.63-megawatt roof-mounted solar array. A&A expects its solar energy panels to offset 100% of its current energy needs. The project consists of 5,104 panels that will generate enough electricity to power some 5,400 homes. The company said it should recapture the initial costs in under four years while providing electricity for the next 25 to 30 years.

"Many small businesses are switching to renewable power at a remarkable rate," said A&A executive vice-president Steve Kovens. "We're proud to be a part of this initiative to switch to 100% renewable energy to offset traditional energy."

The completion of the array is a milestone in A&A's environmental and sustainability efforts. The company's Cockeysville, MD, headquarters, which houses a fully operational manufacturing division and warehouse, will reduce its carbon footprint by the equivalent of planting 31,974 acres of trees or consuming 4,389,394 fewer gallons of gasoline.

Founded in 1939 and still family-owned, A&A Global Industries distributes capsuled, flat and prize merchandise for the bulk vending and amusement channels. It also produces vending equipment, parts and accessories, and ships from distribution centers in Baltimore and Los Angeles.
