LONDON, England — The 2019 EAG International Expo will mark the 10th anniversary of the event. It's set for the Exhibition Centre London (ExCeL) in the city’s historic docks area from Jan. 15 through 17 (Tuesday through Thursday). Organized by Swan Events Ltd., the show again is co-located with the Visitor Attraction Expo.

Sponsored by the British Amusement Catering Trade Association, the first European Amusement and Gaming Expo was conceived in 2009 and launched in the following year. EAG was joined in 2015 by VAE, reflecting the expansion of many participants into attractions and other leisure businesses in addition to coin-op amusements.VAE’s conceptual sponsor is the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions.

The 2019 event represents a milestone, according to EAG chairman Martin Burlin. “Throughout the past 10 years, the show has enjoyed amazing support from the industry,” he said. “Many of our exhibitors have been with us from the start and return each year with increasingly innovative and exciting products. We should also show our appreciation to the thousands of visitors who travel from around Europe and beyond; they’ve made the show what it is today.”

REGISTRATION OPEN

Karen Cooke, managing director at Swan Events, urges everyone who plans to attend the 2019 EAG and VAE to visit the shows’ redesigned and modernized website at www.eagexpo.com to register quickly and easily. “Early preparation will guarantee a wider choice of available hotels and at better prices,” Cooke explained. ‘The show’s new website is a great resource, with access to some great deals and plenty of information about the show.”

Organizers have invested in making the registration process as fast and painless as possible. “On visiting the show’s website, just hit the ‘register now’ button and enter your details,” Cooke advised. “You will be emailed a confirmation, along with a unique barcode which can be printed or saved on a mobile device. On arrival, just scan your barcode and you badge will be printed immediately.”

Prompt registration also speeds and simplifies the hotel reservation process. Experience has shown that the majority of industry members attending the show will plan to stay nearby on the ExCel campus, or slightly further afield at Greenwich, Canary Wharf or Tower Hill.

“There are more than 10,000 rooms within 15 minutes of ExCel, but accommodation is always under pressure in January,” Cooke pointed out. As an aid to registrants, EAG and VAE are partnering with accommodations specialist Event Express, she explained: their rates are competitive and they offer great flexibility. Event Express may be accessed through the show website.

EXPANDED EDUCATION

The 2019 EAG and VAE will be accompanied by a lively variety of timely seminars and learning clinics. This year, for the first time, it also will host the 47th seminar of the popular Foundations Entertainment University, developed by industry legend Frank Seninsky, on Thursday, Jan. 17. The acclaimed educational program marks its 17th consecutive year in 2019.

Foundations Entertainment University now has more than 1,450 graduates, and more than 280 family entertainment centers got their start there, Seninsky reports. The new Foundations University 2.0 is for “newbies,” FEC industry veterans and service providers alike.

Also new are three cutting-edge presentations by Kevin Williams: Augmented and Mixed Reality; Electronic Payment Methodologies; and Digital Out of Home Entertainment. Williams is publisher of The Stinger Report and founder of KWP Ltd. (London, England).
