TROY, MI -- 365 Retail Markets and Kraft Foodservice report that 365's micromarket kiosks can now scan Tassimo Professional T-Disks, allowing patrons to buy freshly brewed gourmet coffee, along with their other micromarket purchases.
The Tassimo T-Disc, a proprietary portion-packed single-cup cartridge, is imprinted with a barcode that identifies it to the brewer and specifies the brew settings for the specific product.
Through their collaboration, Tassimo and 365 have simplified the checkout process by enabling consumers to scan the T-Disc barcode at checkout, the collaborators report; consumers will no longer need to search kiosk menus for the hot beverage selections they want.
The T-Discs supplied for Tassimo Professional brewers are imprinted with barcodes distinct from those imprinted on the products sold for the home appliance line; the two are not interchangeable.
"By integrating the Tassimo proprietary barcode system with the 365 self-checkout technology, we not only help some of our best existing customers use their preferred coffee brand, we also open up our technology to all of those companies looking for a micromarket/Tassimo solution," said 365 chief executive Joseph Hessling.
Tassimo Professional T-Disc's proprietary barcode system also enables micromarket operators to more efficiently manage inventory. By analyzing individual T-Disc scanner sales data, operators can predetermine a micromarket's hot beverage restocking needs and drive lower cost through centralized product picking. Additionally, offering premium beverage brands like Gevalia, Twinings and Suchard enhances customer satisfaction and encourages cross-selling opportunities for the operator, Kraft said.
