BEIJING -- Now that the U.S. elections are over, bulk vending operators and suppliers might want to turn their attention to the political landscape in China. The second-largest economy in the world is poised for political transition as China commenced its 18th Communist Party Congress on Nov. 7.
According to the experts, the Communist Party, which has controlled the country since 1949, is about to undergo major changes. The standing committee, which controls the country, is set to turn over, and China-watchers equate this transition to a simultaneous changing of the presidency, Joint Chiefs of Staff, the U.S. Supreme Court and numerous governorships.
Those put in charge will run China for the next decade, setting monetary and trade policy. For those in the bulk vending industry, which is heavily reliant on Chinese goods, the leadership transition could have significant impact. The changes are scheduled to be announced Nov. 11 and will take effect in March 2013.
