Mondelez Extends Global Footprint For Its Coffee Brands

ZURICH -- Mondelez International Inc. is entering the Dutch and Australian markets, and introducing its new Nespresso1-compatible espresso capsule line in Spain.

In the Netherlands, Mondelez will launch roast and ground, whole bean and pod coffee and Nespresso1-compatible espresso capsules under the Velours Noir brand. The Netherlands ranks second globally per capita coffee consumption.

In addition, Mondelez's coffee products will go on sale in Australia for the first time under the Carte Noire brand, including its Millicano whole bean instant and premium freeze-dried formats.

Mondelez will begin selling Carte Noire Nespresso1-compatible espresso capsules in Spain from mid-October, adding to previously announced launch markets Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland.

Roland Weening, president of Mondelez's coffee business, said the company's decision to expand its global reach underscores its commitment to boosting its worldwide market share and building Carte Noire into a billion-dollar brand.

Mondelez is the world's second-largest coffee company. Its products include roast and ground, single-serve and instant coffee under the Jacobs, Carte Noire, Tassimo and Kenco brands.
