NEW YORK CITY -- Isis reported an average 20,000 activations a day for its mobile wallet, doubling its adoption rate over last month. The Isis Wallet officially launched in November.
Isis chief executive Michael Abbott attributed the spike in adoption to the growing ecosystem support for contactless payments. Currently, 68 mobile devices across AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless support the wallet. It comes preloaded on 14 smartphones, with more preloaded devices in the pipeline.
The Isis Wallet is accepted at any merchant that takes contactless payments nationwide. Coca-Cola's vending machines are among them. Tying in with My Coke Rewards, users get their first three drinks free when they "tap to pay" at participating vending machines.
More than 62,000 locations that use Malvern, PA-based USA Technologies' ePort POS devices with its cashless payment service have also been enabled to work with Isis SmartTap technology for contactless payment, loyalty and rewards. | READ MORE
Consumers can download the Isis Wallet for free from the App Store or Google Play. Once set up, they can pay at more than 200,000 merchant locations nationwide.
The app works on Isis-ready Android phones with NFC technology and an enhanced SIM card. It can work on new iPhone models with the purchase of an Isis Ready case featuring an NFC antenna and a Secure Element micro SD card.
