MALVERN, PA -- USA Technologies said up to 7,500 vending machines in Austin, TX, and Salt Lake City will be able accept mobile payments using its NFC-enabled ePort devices through its new partnership with Isis.

USAT's ePort will work with the Isis Mobile Wallet, an app backed by AT&T, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless that allows consumers to make vending machine purchases with a tap of their NFC-equipped phones.

To accept Isis Mobile Wallet payments, vending operators can install USAT's NFC-enabled technology and display the type of patron signage typical for other payment networks.

Trials of Isis's NFC-based mobile payments service went live in October in Austin and Salt Lake City after its planned summer launch was delayed. | SEE STORY

"We believe that our work with Isis sends a clear message to vending companies in these two cities -- and to the broader market we serve -- that there is tremendous opportunity in cashless adoption," said USAT chairman and chief executive Stephen P. Herbert. "Through the Isis Mobile Wallet, we believe these merchants will have unparalleled new opportunity to attract consumers as well as participate in marketing programs with global brand names."

Last month, Isis agreed to pay Malverne, PA-based USAT a subsidy for each of up to 7,500 ePort-equipped vending machines that is able to accept the Isis Mobile Wallet. | SEE STORY
