VENRAY, The Netherlands -- US Candy Network, the Dutch producer of a motorized vending machine on wheels, said it has partnered with one of its suppliers to meet what it says is

Called MARV (Media and Advertising Racing Vehicle), the electric-powered robotic tricycle dispenses candy, drinks and other refreshments in a special packaging designed to display advertisements. | READ MORE

USCN said it anticipates the need to manufacture 6,100 machines over the next two years and has joined forces with Netherlands-based Regout Group to produce them. The Regout Group already supplies telescopic slides for MARV and will now produce the base modules. Joost van Luyken, Regout Group's owner, has joined USCN as chief executive and will lead the company together with Chanal Kersten, who remains executive chairman.

MARV was launched in January during the world's largest sweets and snacks fair, ISM in Cologne, Germany. "That was such a success that afterwards movie companies, supermarkets, toy stores and breweries from all over the world wanted to have one," Kersten said.

The mobile vending machine uses Microsoft's Kinect 2 system, enabling it to interact and even talk with customers. It has a 21" or 46" touchscreen on which they can order, view movies, print coupons, get discounts, play games or plug in their iPads. It enables payment through the Internet or smartphones.

The hip robotic tricycles can be custom-made into characters from movies or amusement parks or other corporate designs. They make their rounds in high-traffic sites where people gather, including stores, on city streets, fairs and even on the beach.
