WASHINGTON -- Vagabond Vending LLC has released version 1.2 of its mobile application in the Apple iTunes and Google Play app stores. The latest version enables any Android device user to download the application onto a mobile phone or tablet. The previous version was available only for devices running under Apple's iOS.
In addition to Android compatibility, Vagabond 1.2 includes upgrades designed to enhance the mobile experience of the vending operators, drivers and warehouse personnel who use the system. Primarily affecting the mobile elements of the application, the upgrade is said to lay the foundation for Web-based developments planned for release in conjunction with the National Automatic Merchandising Association's OneShow in late April.
The latest release includes provision of a "mobile snapshot" that allows vending operators to see the most urgent daily operational components on a single screen -- which machines require attention, what products are running low and the day's sales results. In addition, the new "load" improves data handling in areas of weak cellular service, and bolsters the capabilities of the backend infrastructure, the company reported.
"With this release, Vagabond is now available to over 80% of all smartphone and tablet users in the U.S.," said Michael Lovett, founder and chairman of Vagabond Vending's parent company, DTG Holdings. "We're executing a number of developments this year that will extend our system's competitiveness as we endeavor to offer the industry's only simple, turnkey and affordable solution for small and medium vending operators to reduce cost and increase operating profits." He explained that the release includes substantial upgrades to Vagabond's backend infrastructure that enable the service to accommodate larger customers.
Vagabond president Juan Jorquera added, "We continue to release developments that will dramatically enhance the toolset available to operators while maintaining our simple and effective user experience." He said Vagabond technology is a seamless and intuitive VMS solution for underserved, smaller operators.
Vagabond integrates with industry-available telemetry hardware and any mobile or tablet device running under iOS or Android. The mobile app is used to manage day-to-day field operations; the Web app delivers reporting analysis, cash accounting and administration.
The cloud-based mobile software can track vending sales in real time and display the current fill status of every machine whenever desired. It reports how much of each product is needed to stock a machine; manages inventory; reports the quantities of each product sold from a machine; and calculates the gross profit of the operation.
The Vagabond 1.2 revision sets the stage for the thorough overhaul of Vagabond's Web product to give operators more detailed information and real-time analytics that they can use to better manage labor costs, product variety and profitability. The results of this development process will debut late in April.
