CHICAGO -- The National Automatic Merchandising Association has announced plans to conduct a series of seminars on micromarket operations. The first is scheduled for Chicago on Aug. 13 and 14; the second will be held in Philadelphia, Aug. 21 and 22; and the third is set for Welcome, NC, Sept. 4 and 5. The tour will wrap up on the West Coast, at a date and place to be determined.

Program presenters will include Brad Bachtelle, Bachtelle & Associates; Dr. Michael Kasavana, Michigan State University; and Jerry McVety, McVety & Associates. Bachtelle, a pioneering vending market researcher, presented the results of a survey of the fast-growing micromarket business at two workshops held during this year's NAMA OneShow in Las Vegas, NV. Kasavana is the NAMA endowed professor at the School of Hospitality Business in MSU's Eli Broad College of Business. McVety is a NAMA Knowledge Source consultant in foodservice.

NAMA director of education and certification Joann DeNardis explained that the two-day seminar will focus on micromarket operations and provide a comprehensive overview of merchandising, systems and support services. The seminars also will provide an opportunity for networking with micromarket operators and suppliers.

The program at each of the seminars will led off with an introductory session designed for operators with few or no micromarkets, DeNardis added. The optional session will cover micromarket basics, to bring operators with limited experience up to speed on the basics.

Registration details will be forthcoming. Operators interested in attending can email jdenardis@vending.org.
