Coke's 'Hello Happiness' Phone Booth Accepts Bottle Caps In Place Of Coins

DUBAI -- Coca-Cola connected migrant workers in Dubai with their families through special phone booths that accepted bottle caps instead of coins in its latest marketing effort to spread happiness.

In exchange for the cap from a bottle of Coke, workers in the United Arab Emirates most populous city could make a three-minute international call to loved ones across the world at the Hello Happiness Phone Booths.

The beverage giant's happiness theme has been at heart of several vending-related publicity stunts in recent years. This particular event, however, has garnered some serious criticism that questions whether Coke is shedding light on a little-known human crisis or itself is adding to the exploitation of immigrant workers in the Middle East and Asia.
