SAN DIEGO, CA -- San Diego's City Council unanimously passed legislation that bans the sale of electronic cigarettes through vending machines. The rules also prohibit their use in all places where conventional smoking is banned.
The legislation, passed on Aug. 4, also will require businesses that sell e-cigarettes to obtain special permits.
The use of vapor inhalers will be prohibited in restaurants, theaters, sports facilities, parks and beaches, the same places where smoking traditional cigarettes is banned. They will be allowed in vehicles, e-cigarette shops, vaping lounges and private residences.
San Diego follows Los Angeles and Long Beach in regulating the devices.
