LEXINGTON, KY -- Students can now pay for their laundry services with their smartphones on the University of Kentucky campus.

Dayton, OH-based ASI Campus Laundry Solutions has installed what it claims is the first fully mobile phone-operated laundry program in residence halls and student apartment buildings on the campus.

ASI is providing the new payment method through partnership with Heartland Micropayments. In addition, students can find out which machines are available, and receive texts when their loads are done, through Heartland's WaveVision, an app for automatic laundries.

If a student chooses not to use their phone, the machines also take credit and debit cards by means of readers installed on every machine.
