LOUISVILLE, KY -- Police here arrested a man who allegedly posed as a route driver and used stolen vending machine keys to help himself to the cash inside.
According to the arrest report, on Feb. 11, employees at a local Kroger supermarket and off-duty police officers saw Kenneth R. Forrest, 45, using keys to open vending machines in front of the store and remove money.
Officers had earlier received a tip that a suspect had been "using false uniforms and vending machine keys" to steal money from vending machines at other Kroger stores.
When the police asked Forrest for his identification, he reportedly walked away, which led to a chase before they were able to place him in custody, according to the arrest report.
Police allegedly found a gun inside the vehicle Forrest had been using, along with bags filled with cash and coins and several rings of vending machine keys.
Forrest was arrested and charged with theft, possession of burglary tools and a handgun by a convicted felon and criminal trespassing, according to the arrest report.
