Namco Prize Division Enjoys Success At IAAPA Attractions Expo

SEARCH TERM ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL -- It has been an incredibly good year for the Namco Prize Division and the 2013 IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando was the icing on the cake. Pac-Man received a makeover with a new computer animated television series, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, that will broadcast in 40 countries worldwide. IAAPA was the perfect show for NAMCO to launch their new line of plush from that television series.

"Pac-Man was already hugely popular but this TV show will introduce the character to a whole new generation," says Jim Wulfers, Sales Manager of Merchandise for Namco America Inc. "The first two shipments of the plush characters are sold out already and we are expecting more containers to arrive shortly with others ordered for shipping before Chinese New Year. The response to these products was simply incredible," he adds.

The Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures TV show has been a hit in the U.S. with a second season already commissioned by the Disney Channel. The show will reach the UK in January 2014 and has already rolled out in some parts of Europe. There is also a global Burger King Promotion taking place next year involving the brand, as well as a huge PR and TV Advertising campaign in all relevant regions.

The Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures toy line from Bandai is currently available in all toy retail stores in the US and a UK toy launch is scheduled for February. This will be followed by a consumer game release for all major game platforms including PS3, Xbox, and the Wii game consoles.

"Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures will be massive next year and so we have very high expectations for the demand for the plush," says James Anderson, General Manager for Namco Prize Division Europe. "It would be advisable for customers to get their orders in before demand reaches a peak early next year."

Despite the excitement surrounding the new TV show, Namco Prize Division is still enjoying strong sales of its range of classic Pac-Man plush and related prizes.

"We are ordering more units of the plush in all sizes and also we are expanding the brand to include desirable watches, plush Bluetooth speakers, footballs (soccer balls in the U.S.), and many more items," adds Anderson.

The company has also invested heavily in its range of NAM-GEAR quality electronic goods. Visitors to the booth at IAAPA saw a preview of the new range for 2014, including new tablets, Bluetooth headphones, wireless speakers and many more highly desirable items.

"It was clear from the response of visitors that we are still pushing the envelope when it comes to providing original electronics for the amusements market. Nothing else available can touch the range we have for 2014 and we will have many new items to reveal at EAG, which will confirm our position as market leader," says Anderson.
