SINGAPORE -- LAI Games has begun restructuring its senior management team with the goal of sharpening its focus on sales and marketing, while increasing corporate and manufacturing depth.
In furtherance of this goal, Marshall Ashdown has been named international sales director, and will relocate to the United Kingdom to take up this post. Ashdown had previously served as international sales manager there, but moved to Singapore to become chief executive after Alan Freimuth retired in 2009. A new LAI Games Group chief executive will be appointed in Singapore; the company's board has started the recruitment process.
LAI Group chairman Malcolm Steinberg hailed Ashdown's accomplishments during his stint as chief executive. "The business has experienced strong growth under his leadership," he said. "However, with his family still based in the UK, it has been a difficult time for Marshall, and this restructuring will allow him to be UK-based and bring more focus to the sales and marketing functions of the business."
Steinberg explained that, as the company's corporate and manufacturing base is centered in Asia, its leadership has decided that bringing in a new chief executive able to focus more closely on product development and manufacturing will increase depth and strength.
The planned management changes will occur over a three-month period from August to October, to ensure a smooth transition and minimize operational disruption.
LAI Games is a subsidiary of Leisure and Allied Industries, which was founded in Perth, Australia, in 1958. It produces and sells coin-operated prize merchandising games, ticket redemption attractions, photobooths, kiddie rides and lockers. The company's main manufacturing plant is located in Jakarta.
