Tourist Attractions & Parks Magazine and Foundations Entertainment University Announce the Winners of the 2013 Excellence in Family Entertainment Center Awards
LAS VEGAS -- March 25 -- Tourist Attractions & Parks Magazine along with Foundations Entertainment University presented awards for the Best New Family Entertainment Center and the Best Remodeled Family Entertainment Center, in a continuing effort to recognize the high standards for excellence that are being set in the industry! Award winners were announced during the 2013 Amusement Expo held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, March 20-22.
Winners were determined by votes cast online for the top five nominees in each category. Over 2,800 votes were cast representing various FEC owner/operators, staff, suppliers and manufacturers, guests and more.Edison's Entertainment Complex in Edwardsville, IL, won for Best New Center, with 36% of the votes in this category. Funplex Amusement Center in East Hanover, NJ, won for Best Remodeled Center, with 54% of the votes in this category.
Runners up included: (Best New FEC) iPlay America, Freehold, NJ; Zoomers Amusement Park, Fort Myers, FL; The Wow Factory, Coconut Creek, FL; and Funhaven, Ottawa, Canada. (Best Remodeled FEC) Springfield Incredible Pizza Company, Springfield, MO; Latitude 30, Jacksonville, FL; Laser Tag of Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge, LA; and Colonial Bowling & Entertainment Center, Lawrenceville, NJ.

Opening on June 15, 2012, Edison's Entertainment Complex is a 30,000 sq. ft. Bowling Entertainment Center featuring 12 lanes of bowling, a 3,400-sq.ft. jungle-themed laser tag arena, 50-game state-of-the-art arcade and redemption center, a full-scale lounge and restaurant, and five party/meeting rooms. Managing partners, Matt McSparin and Terry Rujawitz's primary goal is to provide guests with a second-to-none entertainment experience, which is delivered by anticipating and exceeding the needs of each guest.

Funplex Amusement Center spent much of 2012 "reorganizing" their 100,000 sq. ft. facility while adding a new water experience called "Splashplex". Splashplex consists of elevated water blasters, hydro storm towers, loose water hoses, a Wild Water Playground, 359 linear feet of water slides and a newly renovated 5-foot Deep Pool. This newest attraction continues to show the Funplex's commitment to providing new and exciting experiences to guests each year. Their existing attractions include indoor electric go-karts, a 60-game arcade and redemption prize center, laser tag, a Ballocity "Foam Frenzy", an X-D Theater, party rooms and multiple kiddie rides, including Freefall and MagiQuest.
