ICE And Play Mechanix Unveil Monopoly Video Redemption Game

CLARENCE, NY -- The latest in Innovative Concepts in Entertainment's line of video redemption equipment is Monopoly, based on the internationally renowned board game from Parker Brothers (now part of Hasbro). ICE teamed up again with Play Mechanix (Glen Ellyn IL) to adapt Monopoly as a videogame, as they did with their popular Deal or No Deal video implementation more than six years ago.

The new game incorporates a 42" LCD monitor, a custom LED-illuminated seat and a durable back-printed acrylic marquee for high visibility and long service life. In operation, the player chooses a piece and then spins a dial on the angled control panel to simulate the roll of the dice that controls that piece's travel around the board; dice values appear on the screen. En route, opportunities arise to collect hotels (worth tickets), win Monopoly and Boardwalk bonuses and experience other video implementations of the famous game.

ICE reports that a novel feature of the new Monopoly game is the player's option to choose "continue" in order to keep all hotels and maximize winnings. This may be done twice, and the company noted that it has proven to increase earnings and encourage repeat play.

"The Play Mechanix team has done an outstanding job taking a universally popular board game and converting it to an amazing coin-op game with such intuitive and engaging game play all while staying true to the Monopoly roots," said ICE sales vice-president Joe Coppola.

Launched in the U.S. by Parker Brothers in 1935, Monopoly has won worldwide popularity. Since its introduction, more than a billion people have played it.

The new ICE Monopoly game is 93" H. x 41" W. x 60" D. It has been designed to appeal to players of all ages, and can be seen in action at youtube.com/icegamevideo.
