BALTIMORE -- The Maryland Amusement and Music Operators Association gathered here at the offices of Columbia Music & Games on Jan. 3 for an emergency session to review newly proposed state gambling regulations in Maryland.

As reported earlier by Vending Times, the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission is seeking to limit amusement prizes to $10 in value. MAMOA is concerned that the regulations could eliminate many redemption games and merchandisers. | SEE STORY

MAMOA will meet with state legislators during the group's annual lobbying trip and membership meeting, taking place Jan. 15 in Annapolis. MAMOA will host a reception for lawmakers, staff and families that will include an equipment showcase.

MAMOA president Larry Bershtein, Capitol Amusement Co. (Laurel, MD), and its lobbyist Kevin O'Keeffe urged trade members to attend a yet-unscheduled public hearing on the regulations and to communicate their concerns to legislators.
