CHARLESTON, WV -- The National Weather Service, based here, now offers its Enhanced Data Display just in time for winter. The new app developed by the NWS might very well prove valuable for route personnel on long road trips.

Now in its rollout stage, the EDD's Travel Hazard Forecast allows drivers to plot near real-time and forecasted weather conditions along a travel route. Drivers enter the start and end points of a trip and the weather conditions are displayed along the shortest route possible at the time the driver will be traveling through the area.

NWS scientists are accepting feedback and tinkering with its functionality and features. A Facebook page has also been set up to accept user comments.
