PHILADELPHIA -- Aramark said it is kicking off its Healthy for Life program in thousands of colleges and universities, workplaces and healthcare facilities across the country. The initiative is designed to help its customers make "healthier" lifestyle choices through a broad selection of better-for-you recipes, along with easy-to-understand nutrition and wellness information.
The program encourages its customers to select from the lower calorie, lower fat, whole grain and vegetarian or vegan choices available through onsite health fairs, healthy food sampling events, cooking demonstrations and wellness workshops.
Aramark is introducing Healthy for Life to 2.5 million college and university students this fall. On each campus, the program will include digital wellness centers as a central hub and feature innovative menus and nutrition information at food stations, as well as virtual walking tours highlighting healthy options.
Students will have 24/7 access to nutrition and wellness information through Aramark's social media properties, CampusDish mobile app and website.
More than two thirds of adults and three out of four college students recently surveyed by Aramark said they want to know how to make better nutrition and lifestyle choices.
"By bringing our approach to the dining locations we serve, we are finding more and more ways to proactively provide choices, information and programs that can help people make healthier decisions and live healthier lives," said Dan Wainfan, Aramark associate vice-president of health and wellness.
In addition to its fall rollout to colleges and universities, Aramark will be expanding Healthy for Life to workplaces, healthcare facilities, and other locations that it serves.
