CHICAGO -- The National Automatic Merchandising Association said it has updated the curriculum for its Quality Coffee Certification Program. The revised course will be presented for the first time at this year's OneShow convention and exhibit. It is scheduled for two consecutive days prior to the show's formal opening: Tuesday and Wednesday, April 8 and 9. Separate registration is required.

New on the second day is instruction in a single-serve evaluation process that provides guidance in the criteria for assessing the increasingly popular single-serve brewing systems, as well as a grounding in the theory and principles of brewing.

"If you plan on growing your single-serve business, you'll definitely want to participate in this hands-on professional development program," said NAMA director of education and certification Joann DeNardis.

Greg Sidwell, president of G&J Marketing and Sales (Palm Harbor, FL ), sponsored a special presentation of the QCCP earlier this year. He described it as "very effective in providing our sales force with an in-depth understanding of the coffee industry and the coffee category in vending and OCS.

"We could immediately see the impact," he summarized. "It provided a major boost of confidence in how we engage the OCS operator, taking the conversation to a higher level. We place a high premium on training, and rely on the expertise of NAMA to provide this kind of quality program."

The Quality Coffee Certification Program was developed a decade and a half ago to give OCS operators detailed product and equipment knowledge that can augment their professional image and impart a competitive edge for winning and retaining profitable business.

Members interested in attending can learn more and register at the show website, namaoneshow.org.
