FLORENCE, SC -- Ruiz Foods has expanded its manufacturing to the East Coast with its acquisition of the former Heinz frozen food processing facility here. Located 110 miles southeast of Charlotte, NC, the plant was built in 2008. Renovation is scheduled to begin immediately and Dinuba, CA-based Ruiz plans to begin manufacturing several of its El Monterey and Tornado products at the plant beginning in 2015.
El Monterey, widely sold in vending, is the flagship frozen Mexican food brand for Ruiz Foods and the No. 1 selling brand of frozen Mexican food in the United States.
Over the next several years as the facility swings into full production, Ruiz Foods plans to employ more than 500 associates at the new plant.
Additionally, Ruiz Foods is currently expanding its corporate headquarters located in in Dinuba, CA, and its manufacturing facility located in Denison, TX.
The privately held Mexican food giant was cofounded by father and son, Louis and Fred Ruiz in 1964. Third generation Kim Ruiz Beck, the eldest daughter of co-founder Fred Ruiz, is chairman of the company.
