DALLAS -- Metroplex Data Systems said it has increased the speed and efficiency of its backup service available with its route-management software for the workplace refreshment services market.
MDS's offsite automated backup service allows OCS operators to save business files automatically to safeguard them in the event of a computer system failure, weather-related event or other emergency.
Each evening, Metroplex's backup system contacts subscribed clients' computers and copies all the critical data over a high-speed, encrypted connection. The compressed data is then transferred to Metroplex's backup server. If the need arises, the data is uncompressed and users simply redirect their computers to the IP address of the MDS backup server and log in.
"Running over a broadband connection, clients may not even notice they are not on their own internal host system," according to the company.
The service is offered as subscription for "a few dollars a day," according to Metroplex, and billed monthly.
Metroplex Data Systems was founded by Dave Nelson, a coffee service pioneer and former operator in the Dallas/Ft. Worth region.
