NORTHFIELD, IL -- Kraft Foods Group Inc. has appointed George Zoghbi vice-chairman of operations, research and development and sales and strategy.

The creation of the new role brings together several key areas for Kraft, the maker of Jell-O, Oscar Mayer and Lunchables, under one leader. Zoghbi reports directly to Kraft Foods Group chief executive Tony Vernon.

Zoghbi has headed up Kraft's Cheese & Dairy business since 2009. He joined Kraft's former parent company, now Mondelez International, in 2007 as vice-president and area director of Australia and New Zealand.

Prior to joining Kraft, Zoghbi held high-level positions at Fonterra, the world's largest dairy exporter.
