(August 2007) -- The National Automatic Merchandising Association plans to stage an educational program for operators who offer coffee service. It will be held in Philadelphia on February 12 and 13, 2008.

According to Dean Gilland, NAMA vice-president, sales and service, the event will feature supplier showcases and networking opportunities as well as training sessions and other educational programming.

The two-day event will feature supplier presentations, coffee business building seminars, and face-to-face meetings with the industry's best known leaders. A special round-table discussion session will be led by NAMA Knowledge Source Partner Rick Leffke, president of R.C. Leffke & Associates, who specializes in training and development of leadership and management skills. A special area will be devoted to presentations by manufacturers and suppliers, who will describe their products and services.

The program is geared toward all operators involved with coffee service, and is open to NAMA members and nonmembers alike.

"This will be a great opportunity for everyone who delivers coffee service to learn more about everything from new products and procedures to new faces in the industry," Gilland explained.

What's more, he added, ample time has been allowed for informal networking, enabling participants to compare notes about what's working best and catch up with colleagues.

"This new coffee initiative will help anyone who offers coffee service learn to operate their business better," said NAMA coffee service director Roger Stewart. He noted that it is just one of a variety of new OCS benefits being readied for NAMA members.

Founded in 1936, NAMA is the national trade association of the food and refreshment vending, coffee service and foodservice management industries, which also includes onsite commissary and mobile catering businesses. Its membership is comprised of service companies, equipment manufacturers and product suppliers.
