NEEDHAM, MA -- Students at Olin College of Engineering, near Boston, have taken automated food delivery to the extreme.

Operating on a budget of just $250, four students designed and built what they call the Confectionery Cannon. The device, which operates on four servo motors and a sophisticated face-tracking system, aims and fires marshmallows into the mouths of users with a robust burst of 135 psi.

Built as a project for a Principles of Engineering class, the cannon hits its mark (at least some of the time). However, what the cannon may lack in accuracy, it more than makes up for in the enthusiasm and ingenuity of the students.
