The California operator has partnered with industry veteran Joe Loparco to form a new company, also called Revive Self Checkout Café, to bring the system to market. Customers patronizing an RSCC installation choose their products and then scan the UPC imprints or RFID tags -- the choice is the operator's -- at the self-checkout kiosk. Patrons may be given the choice of paying with cash or cashless media, including credit, debit and stored-value cards. The installation is monitored 24/7 by Internet-connected security cameras. Its free server software is run on either an Amazon Cloud or Rackspace Cloud virtual server, over which the operator has total control.
