ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL -- American Vending Sales reports that it is continuing its ongoing expansion by acquiring Texas-based H.A. Franz & Co. The merger, which took effect on Nov. 1, adds offices in Houston and Dallas to AVS's current network, which now includes Milwaukee and Minneapolis, and the company's headquarters in this northwestern Greater Chicagoland town. All locations will conduct business cooperatively as American Vending Sales Inc.

"As the amusement and vending industries become more consolidated and competitive, we thought it was time to make a move," said Joe Franz, president of H.A. Franz. "We have a great deal of respect and trust in the people at AVS, and fully expect our customers to thrive working with them."

AVS president Vince Gumma added, "H.A. Franz has been a leader in sales, service and integrity for the past 60 years and we are proud to be able to call them friends. Everyone at AVS will strive to continue the levels of excellence in sales and customer service that they have provided throughout the years."

Gumma reported that AVS and H.A. Franz are working to ensure a smooth transition, with all current H.A. Franz employees staying on to become AVS employees. Joe Franz will remain to manage AVS's new Houston and Dallas offices. Customers can continue to contact their existing sales, service and parts representatives in each office, he said.

In its six decades of serving vending, music and games operators, H.A. Franz & Co. became the leading distributor of coin-operated equipment in Texas and Oklahoma, where it represented lines of most major machine manufacturers.

AVS was founded in 1971 in Chicago by Frank Gumma Sr. as a vending machine refurbisher and reseller. The distributorship acquired Wisconsin's Midwest Equipment Supply LLC and Minnesota's Lieberman Cos. earlier this year.
