ALEXANDRIA, VA -- Doug Stagner has joined the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions as chief operating officer and executive vice-president of worldwide operations. This is a newly created post responsible for the achievement of the association's goals and oversight of its growth and global infrastructure.
Stagner brings 32 years' experience in the attractions industry to his new position. He began his career as a ride operator at Sea World San Diego, and ascended through a variety of posts from entry level to senior leadership. This has given him extensive experience in operations, business development and strategic planning and execution. Most recently, he served as vice-president, international operations for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, the company's point person on expansion efforts in Asia.
The industry veteran also has been an active IAAPA volunteer as a board member, former education committee chair and an expert speaker at global events. He received IAAPA's Meritorious Service Award in 2013.
Stagner reports to IAAPA's president and chief executive Paul Noland, and directly oversees the management of global membership, communications, education and talent (human resources). He is in charge of the association's four regional offices and a key point person in the relocation of its global headquarters from Alexandria, VA, to Orlando, FL, later this year. He is based at IAAPA's North American regional office in Orlando.
