GLEN ELLYN, IL -- Today's leading high-def bar game is getting a boost from the biggest TV reality show. Starting in October, connected Big Buck HD videogames by Play Mechanix will automatically receive additional gaming content based on the Arts & Entertainment Network's mega-popular "Duck Dynasty."
New videogame content reportedly will include 16 duck hunting rounds and four Duck Dynasty bonus rounds, along with other enhancements to Big Buck HD, which is considered to be the first-ever arcade game with 1080p graphics.
"Adding Duck Dynasty to Big Buck HD is a sure winning formula, particularly given that the new game will be automatically downloaded to each Big Buck HD at no extra cost," said George Petro, president of Play Mechanix, a wholly owned subsidiary of Raw Thrills Inc.
"Duck Dynasty" has broken several ratings records on both A&E and cable television as a whole; the fourth season premiere drew 11.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched nonfiction cable telecast in history. The program chronicles the lives of the Robertson family, which became wealthy from its business, Duck Commander. Located in West Monroe, LA, it specializes in products for duck hunters; the Robertson's flagship product is a duck call known as the Duck Commander.
"Duck Dynasty's unprecedented popularity and its hunting theme will ensure that Big Buck HD will be even more successful in the future," Petro said.
Within its purview of coin-op video for bars and arcades, the Big Buck Hunter series commands as much prestige as does "Duck Dynasty" in reality television. Introduced in 2000, Big Buck Hunter is one of the most enduring lines in the amusement industry and features such virtual big game as gnu, moose, bear and lions. In 2008, the game's creators held the first Big Buck World Championship Tournament. Qualifying matches for the sixth annual championship match, which will be held in early November in Chicago, are under way now. | SEE STORY
