BENSALEM, PA — Merit Entertainment said its Megatouch Entertainer is now shipping to distributors.
The unit, featuring the Wallette’s 17-in. form factor, includes all 2008 Merit games plus nearly 500,000 songs from the AMI Entertainment Network, a combination of content that Merit said will “instantly double the customer base.” The Entertainer makes multiple installations in one location possible, such as placement in every booth of a diner.
Merit explained that the unit is designed for intimate playback environments, and features an improved out-of-the-box sound system that ensures crisp, clean sound. Players can use onscreen controls to adjust volume, for which operators can set maximum and minimum ranges as well. This ensures that the music from one booth doesn’t overwhelm music from the next or infringe upon other patrons, officials said.
The Entertainer costs $1,000 less than a traditional Wallette; music fees are the same as with all other AMI-connected jukeboxes. Like all IONs, the Entertainer has built-in wireless networking, so broadband connection cables aren’t required. It is fully compatible with the AMI broadband network, and thus supports the entire AMI library and its associated features. The Entertainer comes with an extended 256MB of RAM to support quality music play and speedy game loading.
In the future, Merit plans offer a premium sound system option for the Entertainer that enables louder audio and mounts to the underside of the cabinet easily. The company said that this option will make cafeterias, offices, schools and other single-room settings potential locations.
