RALEIGH, NC -- The Entertainment Group of North Carolina, a state operator association that supports legalization of video poker, has reportedly severed its ties with spokesman and lobbyist Brad Crone of Campaign Connections.
EGNC's website -- ncdontgobroke.com (NC Don't Go Broke) -- has been down for about a week.
Crone remains active as the spokesman for another state operator group, the Internet Based Sweepstakes Organization, according to the Charlotte News-Observer. | SEE STORY
The paper said there is "an increasing divide" between EGNC and IBSO. It implied, but did not explicitly state, that the pro-poker operators of EGNC may favor traditional taxation systems in which businesses perform all accounting and tax payments themselves (based on non-networked equipment).
In contrast, IBSO's sweepstakes game operators may favor a state-run auditing system with automatic tax payment (based on networked equipment).
