Two toddlers on opposite sides of the globe climbed inside crane machines in February, becoming trapped and requiring rescue by adults.

In the Lexington, KY, a two-year old girl climbed inside a crane machine in a Laundromat. Firefighters used a saw to cut the machine's lock, enabling them to open the service door and rescue the child. | SEE VIDEO

In Ballarat, Australia, a three-year-old boy was rescued by his mother after he spent 10 minutes inside a crane. Adults said they were concerned that the boy had little oxygen inside the machine and could have touched the machine's electrical wiring. | SEE PHOTOS

News stories about small children who become trapped after climbing inside large crane merchandisers have become an almost routine occurrence. | SEE STORY
