MILAN, Italy -- With more than five weeks to go until the grand opening of Venditalia 2010 here, the show's organizers report that the exhibit situation is comparable to the same period in 2008.
The space reserved in the exhibit area is equivalent to that which had been contracted for in the runup to the last show, although the number of exhibitors is greater and more of them are from countries other than Italy. The event is set for Wednesday, April 28, to Saturday, May 1, in Pavilions 1 and 2 at the FieraMilanoCity exhibition center.
The current economic challenges have caused exhibitors to control their costs, in some cases by reserving less space, the show planners note. However, they recognize the value of communicating directly with the market by taking part in Venditalia in order to show their products and services to a throng of national and international visitors.
This exhibitor interest is demonstrated by the participation of such major international consumer-goods producers as Coca-Cola, the iconic confectioner Ferrero and Café do Brasil.
"The participation of important players honors us and strengthens the evolution process currently affecting the vending sector," said Marco Monaco, Gruppo Argenta (Modena), president of Venditalia 2010.
This exhibitor turnout confirms the event's importance as a prime showcase for the industry's manufacturers and suppliers, he pointed out. It also is a tribute to their continuing investment in research and development under difficult circumstances.
"Indeed, it would appear that the industry is currently focusing its efforts and attention on innovation, showing that it is now ready for the recovery process which, according to most analysts, is by now around the corner," Monaco added.
