Incredible Technologies Outlines Plans For Countertops, Golf Games

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL -- (Posted May 1) Incredible Technologies announced that "Touch-IT," the company's countertop touchscreen video game platfom, will begin shipping to distribution the first week of May. Officials assert that it will be the lowest-priced countertop on the market. "Touch-IT" will ship with 24 games initially and can be connected to ITNet via a phone line to access free operator services. In other news, IT officials confirmed that a new hardware platform is in the works and slated for release in 12-18 months. IT stressed that the company will continue to support existing "Golden Tee Fore!" technology with course upgrades and tournament services as long as enough operators keep them online to make it viable. Two optional new courses will be released for "Fore!" this fall on CD-ROM, and in the spring of 2004 seven more courses will be released. No specific details about the planned new hardware were revealed, but IT did say it will offer new capabilities and options, and that update kits will be available to retrofit existing "Fore!" dedicated cabinets. The new hardware system will also support other projects beyond golf games, officials noted. This will be the fourth generation of "Golden Tee" hardware; the original system rollout in 1989, followed by the "3D" generation in 1995 and "Fore!" in 1999. Officials said they have cut wholesale prices to distribution on dedicated "Fore!" and "Big Buck Hunter 2" games by a couple of hundred dollars for the summer season, with the idea that passing this savings to operators will promote greater sales.
