COLUMBUS, OH -- The Ohio Automatic Merchandising Association has expressed disappointment over the removal of an expanded definition of vending from the final version of the budget, which Gov. John Kasich signed on June 30.
That definition would have accommodated the new unattended self-service "open market" or "micro market" systems, which do not fit into any of Ohio's existing foodservice licensing categories. It had been included in the Senate version of the budget.
OAMA emphasized that it plans to seek standalone legislation in the state's House and Senate that will rectify this deficiency.
