ELK GROVE VILLAGE, IL -- Sega Amusements USA is set to unveil the initial models in its brand-new Sonic All-Stars games line at the upcoming International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions show in Las Vegas this month. The line leaders, an air hockey table and a basketball game, will premiere in Sega's exhibit.

Featuring bright white cabinets accented with blue stars and images of Sega's iconic cartoon hedgehog, the new games are designed to bring new variety to the already diverse Sega lineup.

Sonic Sports Basketball offers progressive gameplay, with each stage requiring more skill and promising more fun. It can be linked in networks of up to 16 games, and a tournament option is available.

Sonic Sports Air Hockey attracts attention by means of "chasing" LED lighting effects under the table and overhead lighting that's activated each time a player scores. It features a polycarbonate scratch-resistant playfield. Both of the new games have built-in redemption settings that can be enabled or disabled by the operator.

"Many people have been wanting Sega to come up with much more traditional redemption sports games such as basketball and air hockey," said Sega Amusements USA president and COO Paul Williams. He added that the company also has encountered many requests to see more of the famous Sonic character. "The Sonic All-Stars series should hit home for many operators and distributors," he predicted.

Sega Amusements USA is based in Elk Grove Village, IL, and maintains a website at segaarcade.com.
