SCOTTSDALE, AZ -- Apriva has announced that its AprivaPay wireless point-of-sale application for the iPhone is now available at Apple's App Store. The application is described as a solution designed to meet the emerging needs of mobile merchants by providing a cost-efficient, flexible and secure way to accept card-based payments. The app is free and merchants can activate it and sign up for AprivaPay once downloaded.

AprivaPay is an end-to-end service that uses Apriva's intelligent gateway to process payment transactions, assuring that each is complete, reliable and secure. Users receive a number of key benefits, including comprehensive service and support and detailed transaction reporting.

Merchants also can enjoy lower transaction fees by receiving "card present" rates through the use of a portable credit card reader. They can choose a variety of Apple-certified peripherals enabling credit swipes and receipt printing. AprivaPay supports Daily Systems' DS 247i iPhone sled, a combination reader and printer, as well as IDTech's UniMag and iMag magnetic stripe readers. Apriva said it continues to evaluate peripherals in the light of its customers' individual needs.

Bill Clark, Apriva's executive vice-president and general manager for North America, explained that the new iPhone application is timely. "Every month, more and more mobile merchants are looking at card-based payments as an affordable and cost-effective option to increase sales, expand margins, improve customer service, and grow profitability," he reported. "We anticipate that many of these businesses will find AprivaPay a user-friendly, secure and compelling solution to accept credit and debit card payments away from the shop or office."

AprivaPay, certified by Apple's App Store, is said to meet PCI security requirements. The application is supported on iPhone models 3G, 3GS and 4, as well as the iPod Touch.

In addition to its release on the iPhone platform, AprivaPay is currently available for Windows Mobile devices, and as a browser-based interface supported by any phone with Web access. Versions for both BlackBerry and Android are expected to be released shortly.

AprivaPay and related peripherals are certified through the company's extensive network of processors and acquirers. It's available through Apriva's nationwide network of channel partners and resellers. The system also is offered for vending. Additional information on Apriva products and services can be had by calling (877) 277-0728.
